During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", Jennifer Lopez briefly mentioned her husband Ben Affleck's name, seemingly dismissing recent rumors about their relationship status.
Jennifer Lopez's appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" has sparked further intrigue about the status of her relationship with Ben Affleck. While promoting her new Netflix film "Atlas," Lopez casually dropped Affleck's name, seemingly ignoring the ongoing split rumors.
Recalling her first encounter with legendary singer Barbra Streisand, Lopez said, "When I was in Hollywood, 20 or 30 years ago, I met her. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I love her.’ She was asking to look at my engagement ring at the time that Ben had given me years ago."
In a playful exchange, Streisand exclaimed, "So, that's a big diamond." To which Lopez replied, "And I’m like, 'Yes it is.'" The mention of Affleck's name comes amidst a flurry of speculation about their relationship, following Lopez's solo attendance at the "Atlas" movie premiere and Affleck's absence from the Met Gala earlier this month.
However, the couple recently reunited to support their children at an event, both sporting their wedding rings. Sources close to Affleck have remained tight-lipped about the couple's private life, while others on Lopez's side have hinted at potential issues prior to their marriage.
In her 2024 documentary "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," Lopez revealed the tumultuous nature of their relationship, including their initial breakup ahead of their planned 2003 wedding. "We just crumbled under the pressure," she said.
Affleck, in the same documentary, spoke about the importance of compromise in their relationship, particularly regarding social media presence. "I said, 'Listen, one of the things I don't want is a relationship on social media,'" he recalled.
The couple's relationship journey has been marked by challenges, but they have also expressed their commitment to making it work. Last week, relationship coach Lenna Marsak urged the public to be "kind" towards Lopez, who had recently liked a post about unhealthy relationships.
"I hope not, but yeah, please be kind to Jennifer Lopez because she's a human being," Marsak said.
Despite the ongoing rumors, Lopez's casual mention of Affleck's name and the couple's recent public appearance together may indicate a desire to navigate their differences privately.
