Before King Charles III ascended to the throne, actress Jennifer Tilly had an unforgettable encounter with him. On Monday's episode of "Watch What Happens Live," Tilly candidly recalled her brush with royalty, leaving both the host and audience in stitches.
When host Andy Cohen posed a question about meeting the monarch on Monday night's episode of "Watch What Happens Live," Jennifer Tilly's response elicited a flurry of laughter from the audience. Cohen read, "What was going through your mind when meeting him and what else did you two talk about?"
Tilly, momentarily taken aback, inquired, "King Charles?" Cohen, sensing her confusion, offered a clarification: "Prince Charles?"
"Oh, King Charles! Yes, yes!" Tilly exclaimed, her laughter echoing through the studio.
Her mind racing back to the encounter, Tilly shared that meeting the then-Prince Charles had been a surreal experience. "It was so strange because I had met him before when he was younger," she confessed. "And when I met him again, I was like, 'Oh my God, he's so old!'"
Cohen, unable to resist a playful tease, interjected, "That's a little bit rude, Jennifer."
Undeterred, Tilly continued, "I mean, he's like 70 or something, right? But he's still very handsome."
Cohen, his curiosity piqued, prodded Tilly for more details about her conversation with the future king. "What did you guys talk about?" he inquired.
"Well, we talked about a lot of things," Tilly recalled. "We talked about his charity work, we talked about his family, we talked about his horses."
Cohen, sensing a comedic opportunity, remarked, "So, he's a horse guy?"
"Yes, he's a big horse guy," Tilly confirmed, her laughter bubbling over once again. "I think he has a lot of horses."
Cohen, never one to miss a beat, quipped, "Well, I'm sure your husband Phil would have a lot to say about that."
The reference to Tilly's husband, Phil Laak, a professional poker player, sent the audience into another round of laughter.
As the conversation drew to a close, Tilly couldn't resist sharing one final amusing anecdote from her encounter with the future king. "I remember at one point, he was talking about his mother, and he said, 'My mother is the best person in the world,'" Tilly recounted. "And I just thought, 'Oh, well, that's nice.'"
"But then I realized, 'Wait a minute, he's talking about the Queen!'" Tilly exclaimed, her laughter reaching its peak.
Cohen, unable to contain his own amusement, declared, "That's amazing. I love it."
Tilly's candid and hilarious account of her brush with royalty proved to be a highlight of the evening, leaving the audience and viewers alike in stitches.
