One such pundit, Jill Filipovic, has penned a fiery column in The Daily Beast urging First Lady Jill Biden to intervene. Filipovic argues that Biden lacks the mental sharpness for the presidency, and his wife must push him to consider the best interests of the country.

She describes the debate as a "wake-up call" for Biden supporters who have been denying his cognitive decline. She characterizes him as an "elderly man" who is kind and respectable but increasingly incapable of handling the demands of the presidency.

Filipovic emphasizes the threat of a second Trump term and the urgency of addressing Biden's mental state. She believes Biden's inner circle, including his wife, must intervene.

"It's time for Biden’s inner circle to do the hardest things friends, colleagues, and loved ones can do: Intervene, knowing it will be tremendously hurtful to the person you care about," she writes.

Filipovic acknowledges that President Obama and Bill Clinton, as well as Biden's close friends and advisers, should be involved in this intervention. However, she places particular emphasis on the role of Jill Biden.

"But she is in a uniquely influential position, and she does seem to be an intelligent, thoughtful, compassionate person who her husband listens to for a reason," she says.

Filipovic believes Jill Biden can play a crucial role in convincing her husband to see reason and step aside. "Right now, we all need her to step up—not to tell her husband what to do, but to push him to really reflect on what is best for the country, and the hard choices that may be necessary to save it."

Despite these calls, President Biden remains in the race. The Biden campaign has not responded to requests for comment.
