Alexis Nungaray, whose daughter was allegedly murdered by two illegal immigrants, shared a harrowing account of her daughter's abduction and death before a congressional committee, highlighting the devastating impact of migrant crime on American families.
Alexis Nungaray, the mother of Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old girl who was allegedly murdered by two illegal immigrants, testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, providing a chilling timeline of events that led to her daughter's tragic demise.
On June 17, 2024, Jocelyn left home to get a late-night soda when authorities allege that Johan Jose Martinez Rangel and Franklin Pena, both illegal immigrants from Venezuela, lured her from a convenience store. She never returned home.

"That Monday morning, June 17th, was terrifying," Nungaray told the committee. "Waking up to know your child was missing and frantically searching the area where her phone was being pinged just two minutes away from her home, driving up to that exact location to see crime scene tape and officers by a bridge."
At the scene, officers could provide no answers, but Nungaray received a phone call 45 minutes later from police asking her to come downtown.

"I'm still hanging on to hope that my 12-year-old daughter is still somewhere out there," she said. "They bring me to the floor labeled Homicide Division."
Nungaray learned that her daughter had been found strangled to death in a Houston creek. Prosecutors allege that the suspects threw her off the bridge, believing the water would wash away their DNA.

Nungaray testified that Rangel and Pena had been released into the United States as part of the Biden-Harris administration's Alternatives to Detention program, which allows asylum seekers to remain in the country while their cases are processed.
"Because of the Biden-Harris administration open border policies, catch and release, they were enrolled in the Alternatives to Detention program," Nungaray said. "This meant that they were released into the United States. It was not even a full three weeks later that they would take my daughter Jocelyn Nungaray’s life."

Rangel and Pena were arrested in July on capital murder charges, and they are currently in custody. Rangel is scheduled to return to court on November 11th.
Nungaray's testimony highlights the devastating consequences of illegal immigration and the urgent need to secure the border. It also underscores the importance of holding violent criminals accountable and ensuring that they do not pose a threat to innocent Americans.
