John Leguizamo, known for his roles in "Ice Age" and "Super Mario Bros.," has launched a blistering attack on Latino American voters who support former President Donald Trump. In an interview with Salon, Leguizamo claimed that these voters are blaming President Biden for the economy's woes, which he attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic and Trump's handling of it.

Leguizamo's outburst stemmed from recent polling data revealing that Latinos overwhelmingly support Trump over Biden on issues like the economy. An Axios/Ipsos poll showed only 20% of Latinos approve of Biden's economic policies compared to 42% for Trump.

Despite acknowledging the economic concerns of Latino voters, Leguizamo asserted that the economy is "doing great." He dismissed inflation as the primary cause of economic hardship, emphasizing that "our economy is doing great. It's just inflation that's messing up everybody's paycheck. So, I understand that."

Leguizamo attributed the Democratic Party's struggles in courting Latino voters to a lack of outreach and investment. He claimed that Democrats "messed up in 2020 and did nothing." He criticized them for not spending resources on Latino consultants, grassroots organizations, and Spanish-speaking media outlets.

Leguizamo accused Republicans of effectively targeting Latino voters through social media platforms like WhatsApp and conservative radio stations. He urged Democrats to adopt similar strategies to win over this diverse voting bloc.

Leguizamo, a longtime critic of Trump, has previously expressed frustration over his rising support among Latinos. While guest hosting Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," he punched a piñata representing Trump in response to the polls.

In a separate incident, Leguizamo criticized Univision for interviewing Trump, calling it "caca mierda" (excrement). He criticized the network for not confronting Trump on his anti-Latino policies during the interview.

Leguizamo's comments have sparked controversy, with some accusing him of being out of touch with the economic struggles faced by Latino communities. Others have praised his willingness to speak out against Trump's influence among Latino voters.

The debate over Trump's popularity among Latinos highlights the growing political divide within this demographic. While some Latinos support Trump's policies on immigration, crime, and the economy, others are alienated by his divisive rhetoric and policies.

The Latino vote will play a crucial role in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Both major parties will need to tailor their strategies to address the concerns of this growing and influential voting bloc.
