Actor John Stamos recently shared his experience with the Church of Scientology, revealing that he nearly became a member as a teenager. However, his unconventional behavior and a desire for a "hot girl" led to his abrupt dismissal from the organization.
In a candid conversation on the "Friends in High Places" podcast, John Stamos delved into his brief encounter with the Church of Scientology. He admitted that his initial attraction to the church stemmed from a desire to meet an attractive girl and a fascination with actor John Travolta, who has been a prominent member of Scientology since 1975.
Stamos recalled attending an acting class where a fellow student invited him to a gathering at the Scientology building on Hollywood Boulevard. Despite working at his father's restaurant at the time, Stamos decided to attend, marking his first encounter with the organization.

Upon arriving at the Scientology building, Stamos was introduced to the church's E-Meter device, which measures electrical resistance as an indicator of mental and spiritual states. However, Stamos's playful antics, including pretending to use the E-Meter as a phone and engaging in a "Peabody and Sherman" impression, did not sit well with the church officials.
Stamos admitted that his behavior was "annoying" and resulted in his immediate dismissal from the church. Podcast host Matt Friend concurred, suggesting that Stamos's personality was simply not suited to the organization's strict doctrines.

In his recently released memoir, "If You Would Have Told Me," Stamos provides further details about his experience with Scientology. He recounts receiving a book from a church member to read, but was quickly put off by the intrusive questioning he faced from another member during a counseling session.
Stamos ultimately realized that Scientology was "creepy as f---" and expressed disappointment in the organization's practices. He emphasized that he had never been involved in any illegal activities or harbored negative thoughts towards Scientology but found their interrogation techniques to be alarming.

Despite his brief encounter with the church, Stamos remains a staunch non-believer and has publicly denounced Scientology. His experience serves as a reminder of the inherent differences between religious beliefs and personal values, and the importance of staying true to one's own convictions.
Stamos's representative and the Church of Scientology have yet to respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment on his revelations.
