John Ramsey, whose daughter was brutally murdered in 1996, expresses concerns about Boulder Police Department's handling of the cold case and calls for collaboration with external agencies for advanced DNA testing.
For years, the JonBenet Ramsey murder case has remained shrouded in mystery and controversy. Now, the victim's father, John Ramsey, is speaking out, urging Boulder Police Department to seek external assistance to unravel the truth and bring closure to his family.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Ramsey praised the recent appointment of Stephen Redfearn as the new police chief, hailing his extensive experience and fresh perspective as a positive step. However, he emphasized that the department must address past missteps and adopt a more open and collaborative approach.

"I'm entitled to a meeting with the police department every year, but it hasn't happened yet," Ramsey said. "We're not asking for any special treatment, just to be treated fairly."
Ramsey's primary concern revolves around the department's refusal to release evidence to the FBI for advanced DNA testing. He explained that external male DNA was identified in 1997, but authorities kept it a secret to support their theory that the parents were involved.

"We have an unidentified male DNA result from the 1997 testing, which was primitive by today's standards," Ramsey said. "But it's a valuable piece of evidence that could point to the killer."
Ramsey believes that genetic genealogy labs could use fresh samples to conduct more sensitive testing and potentially identify the perpetrator. He also criticized the department's reluctance to investigate any theories other than the parents' involvement.

Ramsey stressed that time is running out to resolve the murder and urged the new police chief to prioritize the case and engage with external experts.

"I'm not asking for a quick fix," Ramsey said. "But we can't let arrogance or bias hinder the investigation. We need to find the truth for JonBenet and for our family."
The Boulder Police Department responded to Fox News, stating that Chief Redfearn has maintained communication with the Ramsey family and plans to continue doing so. The department also emphasized its commitment to re-evaluate policies and enhance community engagement.
