Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered a concerning leg injury in the final seconds of the team's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night. Love was initially feared to have sustained a high ankle sprain or even a torn ACL, but subsequent reports emerged that he may have avoided major structural damage.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was fortunate to escape a potentially severe injury during the team's 27-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night. Love went down in the closing seconds of the game as the Packers made a last-ditch attempt to score a game-winning touchdown.

After completing a 33-yard pass to wide receiver Jayden Reed to advance the ball to midfield, Love faced pressure from Eagles defenders Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat, forcing him to throw the ball backward to running back Josh Jacobs. However, as Carter was falling to the ground, he inadvertently wrapped his body around Love's left leg, while Sweat pushed him to the turf.

Love immediately displayed intense discomfort as he lay on the ground. Although he eventually managed to walk off the field with assistance from trainers, replays of the incident raised concerns. The initial diagnosis suggested a high ankle sprain, but upon closer examination, it became apparent that Love's knee may also have been affected.

In the aftermath of the game, head coach Matt LaFleur expressed uncertainty regarding Love's status, twice replying "I don't know" when asked about the injury. However, on Saturday morning, more optimistic news emerged. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Love had not suffered an ACL tear and would undergo further testing, including an MRI, upon the team's return to Green Bay.

The injury comes at a crucial time for Love, who recently signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension. Last season, he completed 64.2% of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, leading the Packers to the playoffs.

Should Love miss any significant playing time, newly acquired backup quarterback Malik Willis would likely take over the starting role. Green Bay also has 2023 fifth-round pick Sean Clifford on its practice squad.
