Minnesota Twins infielder Jose Miranda has etched his name in baseball history by tying a Major League Baseball record with 12 consecutive hits.
Jose Miranda of the Minnesota Twins has achieved an extraordinary feat by tying a Major League Baseball record with 12 consecutive hits. The 24-year-old infielder has become the fourth player to accomplish this rare accomplishment, which had last been achieved in 1952.
Miranda's remarkable streak began Wednesday with a single against the Detroit Tigers in his final at-bat of the game. He followed that up with a perfect 5-for-5 performance on Thursday and another 4-for-4 showing on Friday, giving him an impressive 10-for-10 start.

On Saturday, Miranda's streak continued when he was hit by a pitch in his first plate appearance against the Houston Astros. In the second inning, he drove in a run with a single, and two innings later, he singled again, equaling the record set by Johnny Kling (1902), Pinky Higgins (1938), and Walt Dropo (1952).
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Miranda came tantalizingly close to breaking the record outright, but a line drive went just foul. After a hard-fought battle to a 2-2 count, he eventually flied out to left field.

Despite the streak coming to an end, the Twins faithful gave Miranda a thunderous ovation in recognition of his historic achievement. The hit by pitch earlier in the game also helped him set a franchise record by reaching base in 13 consecutive plate appearances.
Miranda is now riding a 10-game hitting streak, but this record stands as a testament to his exceptional hitting ability. In his previous 58 games entering Saturday, Miranda had been batting .345, while in his last 15 games, his batting average had soared to an impressive .500.

Miranda's contributions have been a major factor in keeping the Twins in the postseason race. The team trails the Cleveland Guardians by six games for the AL Central lead but currently holds the second wild-card spot by a comfortable margin.
The Twins' young star has proven himself a valuable asset to the team, and his record-tying performance is a testament to his skill and determination. As the season progresses, it will be fascinating to see if Miranda can continue his exceptional form and guide the Twins to a playoff berth.
