Vice President Kamala Harris has declined an invitation to participate in a Fox News presidential debate on September 4, while former President Donald Trump has agreed to debate her on ABC News on September 10.

Former President Donald Trump announced Monday night that Vice President Kamala Harris' team has informed his campaign that she will not participate in a Fox News presidential debate scheduled for September 4. Trump expressed no surprise at Harris' decision, citing her "difficult" record of "Flip-Flopping on absolutely everything."

According to Trump's post on Truth Social, Harris has flip-flopped on her stance regarding fracking in Pennsylvania and her performance on immigration at the border. Harris had previously stated that there would be "no fracking" in the state, but later reversed her position.

Despite Harris' decline, both she and Trump have confirmed their participation in a debate on ABC News on September 10. Additionally, they have also agreed to a vice presidential debate on CBS News on October 1 between Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance.

Trump had initially been hesitant to debate Harris after President Biden suspended his re-election campaign, as she was not yet the official Democratic candidate. However, he later agreed to do so once she secured the nomination.

In place of the Fox News debate, Trump plans to participate in a town hall in Pennsylvania with Fox News host Sean Hannity. The Harris campaign has indicated that they are considering a second presidential debate in October.

In response to Harris' decision, her campaign communications director Michael Tyler said in a statement last week: "Voters deserve to see the candidates for the highest office in the land share their competing visions for our future."

Tyler also criticized Trump and Vance, saying that their actions "reveal themselves to be insecure and unserious to the American people."

The debate on ABC News will provide voters an opportunity to witness Harris and Trump present their political views and engage in a direct exchange of ideas. The upcoming election offers voters a significant choice between the two candidates, and these debates will be crucial in shaping public opinion.
