Former Vice President Kamala Harris has declared her candidacy for president in 2024, drawing both criticism and commentary on her potential as a leader. While some allies of former President Donald Trump urge him to focus on policy attacks, others question her qualifications based on her previous record and appointment as vice president.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has officially announced her bid for the presidency in 2024, setting the stage for a potential rematch against former President Donald Trump. However, Harris's candidacy has sparked criticism and scrutiny from Trump's allies, prompting debate within their ranks about the most effective campaign strategy.

Some Trump allies, including Representative Max Miller (R-Ohio) and former Cabinet member Ryan Zinke, believe Trump should focus on criticizing Harris's policies and record rather than engaging in personal attacks. They argue that such tactics could alienate moderate and independent voters.

"I mean, it's certainly not the rhetoric that I would focus on," Miller said. "I would focus on her merit to do the job."

Zinke added, "I think the tone of Trump is gonna be pointing out that she was even worse than Biden on policies."

Trump himself has signaled that border policy will be a key focus of his criticism, holding a press call to discuss what he called "Failed Border Czar Kamala Harris' Border Bloodbath."

However, other Trump allies have questioned Harris's qualifications for the presidency, suggesting that she was chosen as Biden's running mate solely based on "diversity, equity, and inclusion" (DEI) principles.

Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) referred to Harris as a "DEI vice president," while Trump campaign ally Karoline Leavitt accused her of having a "terrible weak-on-crime record in California."

"Kamala Harris is just as weak, failed and incompetent as Joe Biden — and she’s also dangerously liberal," Leavitt said.

House GOP leaders have urged their members to avoid personal attacks on Harris's personality and physical traits, emphasizing the importance of focusing on policy.

"It's really important to continue to talk about policy," said Representative Nick Langworthy (R-N.Y.). "This is an economic election. This is about the economy."

Despite these concerns, some Trump allies, such as Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), believe it is necessary to address Harris's personal background and qualifications.

"She wasn't chosen because she was truly highly ranked amongst Democratic voters throughout the country," Greene said. "She was chosen for a reason. And it seems to be that her, unfortunately, her gender and maybe her skin color was part of that."

Harris's campaign has not yet responded to the criticism, but the race for the presidency is likely to intensify as both Trump and Harris emerge as potential frontrunners. The effectiveness of their respective campaign strategies, including their approach to personal attacks and policy debates, will play a significant role in determining the outcome of the election.
