Vice President Kamala Harris aims to close the gap on the economy, Americans' top issue, but faces ridicule on social media after calling for Americans to move on from "failed" policies.

Vice President Kamala Harris has taken aim at former President Donald Trump, labeling him "one of the biggest losers ever," while trying to narrow the gap on economic issues, Americans' top concern.

During a policy address at The Economic Club of Pittsburgh, Harris emphasized her "middle-class upbringing" and pledged to "build a strong middle-class" through proposals like increasing the tax break for new small businesses and offering a $25,000 credit to first-time homebuyers.

Harris's statement about "moving past" failed policies drew ridicule from conservative political commentators on social media, who found her irony amusing given her position as incumbent vice president.

Former Trump campaign advisor Steve Cortes joked, "Acceptance is the first step," while Redstate columnist Buzz Patterson quipped, "Who wants to tell her?"

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon wrote, "Kamala Harris says we need to move past the failed policies that don’t work. She’s telling to to vote for Trump. Listen to her."

Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) responded, "The American people are sick and tired of the Harris-Biden Administration’s failed policies."

Conservative commentator Stephen L. Miller noted the timing of Harris's speech and President Biden's remark on "The View" that he had delegated everything to her, saying, "Quite the optics today as Harris is out saying we need to move past failed policies while the old man is saying he delegated everything to her in his administration."

Harris also dodged questions on lowering prices, describing her "middle-class roots" and neighbors who were "proud of their lawn."

Despite her efforts to focus on the economy in recent weeks, Harris trails Trump in polls on key issues like the economy and inflation.

Her speech in Pittsburgh aimed to close the gap, but her comments and avoidance of questions have drawn mixed reactions.
