Former Clinton strategist Paul Begala dismisses criticism over Vice President Harris' lack of press interviews, claiming voters don't care.

As Vice President Kamala Harris faces a barrage of criticism for avoiding press interactions, former Bill Clinton strategist Paul Begala has come to her defense, questioning the significance of such concerns among voters.

During a CNN panel discussion, Republican commentator Lance Trover argued that voters need to hear from Harris directly on her policy stances, accusing her of flip-flopping on various left-wing positions. However, Begala and fellow liberal CNN commentator Ana Navarro countered these claims.

Begala dismissed the media's focus on Harris' press avoidance, arguing that it was irrelevant to voters. "Just one question: who cares?" he retorted. Despite his personal desire for Harris to engage with the press, he characterized the issue as a "media issue" rather than a voter concern.

As of Wednesday, Harris had gone 24 days without holding a formal press conference or participating in a sit-down interview since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee. Begala reasoned that voters prioritize policy issues over media exposure.

"There's nobody at the Tractor Supply shop who says, 'Gee, I like that Kamala wants to raise the minimum wage. I like that she wants to cut the cost of prescription drugs. I like that she's going to protect my sister's right to choose. But she hasn't done enough interviews with [Jim] Acosta.' I think she should. Okay? But let's just put this into perspective," he said.

CNN anchor Jim Acosta pushed back on Begala's argument, emphasizing the importance of Harris engaging with the free press.

Navarro also defended Harris, suggesting she had been too busy to conduct interviews since her candidacy announcement three weeks ago. She expressed confidence that Harris would eventually address the media.

Other Democrats have echoed these sentiments. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy told CNN that Harris would have ample time to speak to the press before the November election.

Despite Begala's assertion that voters are unfazed by Harris' media avoidance, some analysts believe that such a strategy could harm her chances of winning the presidency. They argue that transparency and accountability are essential qualities for a successful candidate.

The Harris campaign has not responded to Fox News' request for comment.

The ongoing debate over Harris' lack of press interaction highlights the complex relationship between politicians, the media, and the public. While some may downplay the significance of media engagement, others believe that it is crucial for voters to have access to information about their potential leaders.
