CNN commentators have engaged in a heated debate over Vice President Kamala Harris' recent avoidance of the media.

Vice President Kamala Harris' lack of engagement with the media has become a topic of contention among CNN commentators. The issue was thrust into the spotlight after former President Donald Trump held a press conference from Mar-a-Lago while Harris spoke at a campaign rally in Michigan.

CNN commentator and Democratic strategist Bakari Sellers dismissed the criticism, arguing that "Don't nobody care but us." However, fellow panelist S.E. Cupp disagreed, stating, "I speak to swing state voters all the time. They have questions, they want answers."

Harris broke her press silence on Thursday, briefly taking reporters' questions for the first time since becoming the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee nearly three weeks ago. She expressed her willingness to grant an interview by the end of the month.

Sellers maintained that the media attention is primarily focused on Washington, D.C., politics, suggesting that it is not an issue of concern for the general public. Cupp countered this argument, emphasizing the importance of accountability and credibility.

"You lose credibility when you do that, because if it were someone else then you would be demanding that she sit down for questions. And you know what, it'll make her a better candidate if she does it," Cupp stated.

Tricia McLaughlin, former communications director for Vivek Ramaswamy's presidential campaign, echoed Cupp's sentiments, saying, "And why shouldn't she? She should answer these questions for the American people."

Sellers insisted that Harris will eventually address the media, but McLaughlin questioned why she has not done so sooner.

Cupp, a prominent anti-Trump Republican at CNN, observed that Harris has enjoyed a "bit of a honeymoon period" in terms of media coverage following her nomination. She noted that Harris' poll numbers have improved significantly after President Biden announced his withdrawal from the race.

The Harris campaign has not responded to Fox News Digital's request for comment. Fox News contributor Anders Hagstrom contributed to this report.

In conclusion, the debate over Vice President Harris' media avoidance has highlighted the differing perspectives among CNN commentators. While some argue that it is a non-issue for the general public, others emphasize the importance of accountability and transparency in a presidential candidate. It remains to be seen whether Harris' decision to break her press silence will quell the criticism or further fuel the debate.
