Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, has faced criticism for going 64 days without holding an official press conference since becoming a candidate. Conservative commentators and media outlets have questioned her strategy and accused her of dodging accountability.

Vice President Kamala Harris' absence from traditional press conferences has become a subject of intense scrutiny, with conservative critics questioning her strategy and accusing her of evading accountability.

Since becoming the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Harris has gone 64 days without holding a formal press conference. She has given a series of interviews, but critics argue that these carefully controlled settings do not provide the same level of transparency and accountability as a full-fledged press conference.

Jesse Watters, host of "Jesse Watters Primetime" on Fox News, has been particularly critical of Harris' lack of press conferences. He has accused her of bombing her first solo interview since becoming the Democratic nominee.

"How is Kamala Harris different from President Biden?" Watters asked. "Because Kamala Harris, who has been the presumptive Democratic nominee for 64 days, has yet to hold a solo press conference."

Conservative radio host Jorge Bonilla also believes that Harris should hold a press conference. However, he said it may be "irrelevant" because the media has continued to give her a pass on her lack of availability.

"She is highly unlikely to do a press conference because the media have enabled and encouraged her 'plexiglass basement' strategy, wherein she preserves the illusion of being out there while remaining wholly inaccessible to the press and therefore unaccountable," Bonilla told Fox News Digital.

Harris' opponents have sought to highlight the contrast between her media availability and that of President Donald Trump, who has held several lengthy interviews and three news conferences in recent weeks.

In a recent interview on Friday in Philadelphia, Harris drew sharp criticism for her response to a question about how she would bring down prices. She cited her middle-class upbringing and spoke about the importance of dignity and opportunity.

Critics argued that her response was vague and did not provide concrete details on her economic policies.

Fox News contributor Barbara Walters also expressed her expectation that Harris would participate in interviews, stating that it is "part of the job of being president."

"I would expect Kamala Harris to be doing interviews," Walters said. "This is part of the job of being president. You have to be out there and you have to be accountable."

Harris' reluctance to hold a formal press conference has raised questions about her transparency and commitment to accountability. Critics argue that she is dodging tough questions and avoiding scrutiny.
