Sports Illustrated Swimsuit celebrates its diamond anniversary with seven covers featuring a diverse lineup of women, including Kate Upton, Gayle King, Chrissy Teigen, and Hunter McGrady. The covers embody the magazine's commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
In a groundbreaking move, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit unveils seven covers for its 60th anniversary issue, featuring a remarkable group of women who represent the magazine's unwavering commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
Headlining the covers is none other than Kate Upton, who has graced the magazine's pages multiple times throughout her career. Upton's first SI Swimsuit cover in 2011 marked a pivotal moment in the brand's evolution, and her presence on this year's cover underscores her enduring legacy.
Joining Upton on the covers are Gayle King, Chrissy Teigen, and Hunter McGrady, each bringing their unique perspectives and experiences to the forefront. King, an accomplished journalist and co-host of "CBS Mornings," makes her SI Swimsuit debut at the age of 70, proving that age is no barrier to self-expression and confidence.
Teigen, a model, entrepreneur, and cookbook author, has previously appeared on the SI Swimsuit cover alongside Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge. Her return to the magazine signifies her continued influence in the modeling world and her advocacy for body positivity.
McGrady, known for her advocacy for inclusivity and body diversity, has become a beloved figure in the SI Swimsuit community since her debut in 2017. Her presence on this year's cover is a testament to the magazine's commitment to representing women of all shapes and sizes.
In addition to these four cover models, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit is also releasing a special collectible trilogy of covers from the Swimsuit's 60th Anniversary Legends shoot. This shoot features a star-studded lineup of women who have shaped the magazine's legacy, including Brenna Huckaby, Brooklyn Decker, Brooks Nader, Camille Kostek, Christie Brinkley, Danielle Herrington, Hailey Clauson, Halima Aden, Jasmine Sanders, Kate Love, Leyna Bloom, Lily Aldridge, Martha Stewart, Maye Musk, Megan Rapinoe, Molly Sims, Nina Agdal, Paige Spiranac, Paulina Porizkova, Roshumba Williams, Sue Bird, Tyra Banks, and Winnie Harlow.
The seven covers, all photographed by renowned SI Swimsuit photographer Yu Tsai, represent a collective celebration of the magazine's past, present, and future. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editor-in-chief MJ Day emphasized the magazine's commitment to shattering stereotypes, embracing diversity, and championing inclusivity.
"Over the past 60 years, we have challenged ourselves to push boundaries and redefine what it means to be Sports Illustrated Swimsuit," Day said. "This year's issue is a reminder of the work we must continue to do. We must remind women to challenge the status quo, to celebrate strength and confidence, and to inspire those around us to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their passions fearlessly."
The 2024 issue of SI Swimsuit hits newsstands on May 17th, marking a significant milestone for the publication and a powerful testament to the transformative power of inclusivity and self-acceptance.
