Alec Baldwin's legal team is engaged in a heated battle to have the involuntary manslaughter charges against him dismissed in the "Rust" shooting case. The actor's lawyers argued that the prosecution has failed to provide sufficient evidence to support the charges.

Baldwin's team has filed a motion to dismiss the charges, claiming that the prosecution's theory of the case is "fatally flawed" and that there is no basis for the involuntary manslaughter charges.

The prosecution, however, is standing by its charges and arguing that Baldwin was reckless in handling the firearm on the set of "Rust." The prosecution also maintains that Baldwin was ultimately responsible for the safety of everyone on set.

"The evidence shows that Alec Baldwin was reckless in his handling of the firearm and that his recklessness led to the death of Halyna Hutchins," said Andrea Reeb, the special prosecutor in the case.
