Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has vehemently denied recent trade rumors involving him and the Phoenix Suns, calling them "lies" and "s---."
Kevin Durant, the perennial NBA All-Star, has had enough of the swirling trade rumors surrounding him and the Phoenix Suns. In a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, Durant adamantly refuted any talk of his departure from the Suns, dismissing it as "lies" and "made-up stuff."
The speculation began at the 2024 NBA Draft when ESPN reported that the Houston Rockets were pursuing Durant via trade, having previously acquired several draft picks from the Brooklyn Nets. The rumor mill reached a fever pitch when ESPN's Stephen A. Smith claimed on his show, "First Take," that the Suns were looking to get out of Durant's contract.

However, in his interview with Yahoo, Durant flatly denied the allegations, expressing his exasperation with the constant attention-grabbing headlines about his potential trade. "You could just press the ‘KD want to leave’ button anytime you want some attention," Durant lamented. "Yes, it’s a button. What else is gonna get people around this time? Besides, ‘Oh, the journeyman is leaving again.’ That story is always gonna hit."
Durant further denounced the rumors of the Suns wanting to trade him as "lies" and emphasized his frustration with the spread of misinformation. "For somebody to say, ‘Phoenix wants to get out of the KD [business],’ I’m sitting here like, ‘Where is this coming from?’" he said. "It bothers me that people lie like that and that the audience eats up the headline. I get sad when people buy into lies and just make up s---."

The rumors surrounding Durant's future have followed him throughout his NBA career, including during his time with the Nets. Even Suns GM James Jones acknowledged the persistent speculation in his post-Draft comments. "It’s the question, it’s the topic of discussion, it’s the stuff that gets clicks that everyone wants to talk about," he said, via AZ Central.
Despite the rumors, Durant remains committed to the Suns and focused on achieving NBA titles. With two seasons left on his lucrative contract, he is eager to prove himself within the organization and help them reach their full potential. "Of course, I want to win the championship. Of course. I want to play well every game, like I don’t even have to talk about that type of stuff," Durant said, via Yahoo.

Entering his 17th NBA season, Durant is a seasoned veteran with an impressive resume. In 75 games for the Suns last year, he averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5 assists. As he prepares for another Olympic run with Team USA, Durant remains optimistic about his future with the Suns and determined to silence the trade rumors once and for all.
