King Charles III is reportedly experiencing a range of emotions about his son, Prince Harry, as he battles cancer. A new book by Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, reveals the monarch's regret over Harry's upbringing and hopes for healing the rift between his sons.
King Charles III is navigating a complex web of emotions amidst his cancer diagnosis and the ongoing estrangement with his son, Prince Harry. A new book by Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, has shed light on the monarch's perspectives, revealing his regret over Harry's upbringing and his aspirations for reconciliation.
Despite Prince Harry's recent visit to the United Kingdom for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, a meeting with his father remains elusive due to scheduling conflicts. A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex confirmed that a reunion during the visit was not feasible.
The King's deep affection for his son was evident during Harry's brief visit in February, when he traveled over 5,000 miles to be by his ailing father's side. However, royal experts expressed concern over the brevity of the visit, which included a 45-minute meeting with Charles.
Ingrid Seward's book, "My Mother and I," delves into the monarch's upbringing and his close relationship with Queen Elizabeth II. It also reveals Charles's regret over Harry's childhood experiences, which may have contributed to their current estrangement.
The King's cancer diagnosis adds another layer of complexity to the situation. Despite his own health challenges, Charles remains committed to his public duties and maintains a full schedule. While Harry expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit his father, he also acknowledged the difficult circumstances surrounding their reunion.
Prince Harry's itinerary in London includes several events to celebrate the Invictus Games. He participated in a panel discussion on "Realising a Global Community" and will attend a service at St. Paul's Cathedral.
Meanwhile, King Charles has resumed his official engagements, including an audience with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka of Fiji. A garden party at Buckingham Palace is also scheduled for May 8.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the specifics of the King's relationship with Prince Harry. However, sources close to the Royal Family suggest that Charles is deeply concerned about the ongoing rift with his son. He is reportedly hopeful that through their shared experiences and his own battle with cancer, they may find a path to healing and reconciliation during his reign.
