Country music star Lainey Wilson credits her upbringing as a fifth-generation farmer's daughter for her unwavering work ethic and determination, which have led to her recent triumphs at the 2024 ACM Awards.
Country music sensation Lainey Wilson has made waves in the industry, winning multiple awards and garnering critical acclaim for her captivating music. Behind her success lies a strong foundation forged by her humble beginnings as a farmer's daughter.
In a candid interview with Fox News Digital, Wilson opened up about the role her parents, Brian and Michelle Wilson, played in shaping her work ethic. "They truly supported me from the beginning," she shared. However, she believes the hard-working nature runs deeper, tracing it back generations to her farming ancestors.
Wilson emphasized the unwavering dedication of farmers, who face both good and bad years, yet never cease to persevere. "They rolled their sleeves up... and fell down, but they'd do it again," she said. This ingrained resilience has become a guiding principle for the country music star.
She believes it's crucial to remember the sacrifices made by those who came before when facing adversity. "It takes a little bit of pressure off of you... makes working hard a lot easier," she explained. This perspective has fueled Wilson's determination in the face of challenges.
At the recent 59th annual ACM Awards, Wilson was honored with the prestigious Entertainer of the Year and Female Artist of the Year awards. She credits the support of her parents, who attended the ceremony, for her resilience and unwavering belief in herself.
Wilson's partnership with Tractor Supply further solidifies her connection to her agricultural roots. "I just feel like Tractor Supply... has just really played a very important part in my life," she said. The singer believes the partnership is not just a business deal but a representation of her values and upbringing.
Her latest single, "Hang Tight Honey," reflects her journey and pays homage to the people who nurtured her. "It's always important to tip your hat to those people... and remind myself," she said. "It's cool that I get to write this music... in order for me to be able to tell the kind of stories... I got to keep living as normal of a life as I possibly can."
Wilson's small-town upbringing in Baskin, Louisiana, has played a significant role in her life. "Where I grew up, we didn't even realize that country music was a genre. It was just a way of life," she shared. "It's kind of funny how... country music is having its moment."
Her hit single, "Country's Cool Again," celebrates the Western lifestyle that has always formed the core of country music. "Country music's always been cool... It's cooler than it's ever been," she affirmed. Wilson's music and personal journey serve as an inspiration, reminding us of the power of hard work and the importance of embracing our roots.
