Laura Ingraham: The Gatekeepers Want Us Silent

In a scathing commentary on "The Ingraham Angle," Fox News host Laura Ingraham decried the left's intolerance and attempts to silence those who express their Christian faith in the public sphere. She particularly commended Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker for his courage in sharing his beliefs during a commencement speech, despite the backlash he received.

Ingraham began by acknowledging the challenges faced by Christians in today's society, particularly those who are bold enough to share their faith publicly. "In our social media obsessed, materialistic world, it's easy to forget that Heaven is really what we as Christians should be striving for here on earth," she said.

She noted that Butker's comments made certain people uncomfortable because they challenged the current cultural narrative that emphasizes "equity and inclusion" and dismisses religious beliefs. "It's enough to glide through life with glib references to 'equity and inclusion," or 'I'm spiritual, but not religious,'" Ingraham said. "But some of these people are among the most intolerant on the planet."

Ingraham argued that the "powers that be" are determined to make an example out of individuals like Butker who dare to challenge their worldview. "They will try to denigrate you, isolate you, cancel you, and ultimately silence you completely," she said.

She urged viewers not to be afraid to stand up for their beliefs, even in the face of adversity. "Be not afraid," Ingraham said. "The truth is on our side."

Ingraham's comments come at a time of heightened scrutiny and criticism of religious expression in the public sphere. Butker's speech drew ire from some who accused him of proselytizing and promoting a narrow-minded view of the world. However, Ingraham defended Butker's right to share his beliefs, arguing that it is a fundamental aspect of freedom of speech.

"Harrison Butker had a unique opportunity to reach a large audience," Ingraham said. "He used that opportunity to share a message of hope and faith. For that, he should be commended."

Ingraham's stance on this issue is consistent with her long-held views on the importance of religious freedom and the right of individuals to express their beliefs without fear of retribution. She has repeatedly spoken out against attempts to suppress religious expression, both in the United States and abroad.

In closing, Ingraham reiterated her message of defiance and encouragement to those who are facing pressure to silence their faith. "The gatekeepers want us silent," she said. "But we will not be silenced. We will continue to speak our truth, and we will not be afraid."
