Level 8 Co-Worker Slams Employer for Dismissing Safety Concerns Before Johnny Wactor's Murder

Anita Joy, who witnessed Johnny Wactor's fatal shooting, accuses Level 8 bar and nightclub of neglecting safety measures despite repeated complaints, leading to the senseless loss of her beloved colleague.

In a heart-wrenching interview with the Daily Mail, Anita Joy, a co-worker and close friend of late actor Johnny Wactor, has spoken out against the alleged negligence of Level 8 bar and nightclub, where Wactor worked as a bartender before his untimely demise.

Joy claims that for months, staff members, including herself, had been voicing concerns to management about inadequate parking facilities and the lack of security in the area, particularly during late hours. However, she alleges that their pleas were repeatedly brushed aside.

"Everybody wants to go out and get drunk and have a good time, but the people that are serving them are in danger when they go home," Joy lamented. "We leave after everybody's already in bed, and we need to be protected."

Despite the apparent safety risks, she alleges that the establishment's response was limited to offering token gestures, such as a security guard escorting staff to their vehicles, a measure that she saw as insufficient.

On May 25, tragedy struck when Wactor was confronted by three individuals as he left work. He was fatally shot while trying to protect his car from theft. Joy recounted the harrowing incident in a separate Instagram post.

"We cautiously approached the men, questioning what they were doing, at first thinking the car was being towed," she wrote. "We were no threat and Johnny kept his cool as he always did, simply stating that it was his car and for them to leave."

As the situation escalated, Joy witnessed the unimaginable: "As I heard the shot ring into the night, he forcefully tumbled back into my arms. As I grabbed for him, I shouted ‘Hunny you ok?!’ And he only responded, ‘Nope! Shot!’ "

The bar's security guard rushed over and attempted CPR, but it was too late. Wactor succumbed to his injuries shortly after the incident.

In the wake of Wactor's death, Level 8 released a statement expressing condolences and promising to implement additional safety measures. However, Joy remains skeptical and has joined the chorus of voices demanding accountability.

"We are urging Councilmember Kevin de León (District 14) to support our plea for #JusticeForJohnny by bringing urgency to this investigation, so we can find these suspects and ensure we don’t lose another innocent life to another senseless murder in our city! Please help!" she wrote on Instagram.

The LAPD continues to investigate Wactor's murder and is urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects.

The official cause of death, released by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, attributed Wactor's passing to a "gunshot wound to the chest."
