Top Democratic fundraiser Lindy Li warns that replacing President Biden with anyone other than Vice President Kamala Harris would be a "catastrophic mistake," citing the importance of the Black American voter base and Harris's prosecutorial experience.
Top Democratic fundraiser Lindy Li has sounded the alarm over the dwindling donor optimism surrounding President Biden's re-election campaign, while strongly advocating for Vice President Kamala Harris as his potential replacement.
Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Li painted a grim picture of the fundraising efforts for Biden's re-election bid. "Big money fundraising has slowed," she said. "Major donors who have pledged massive amounts of checks - I'm talking six, seven-figure checks - have suddenly disappeared."

According to Li, these donors see the election as a "business proposition" and are hesitant to bet on a campaign that does not appear to be a winning prospect. "It's just hard," she admitted. "I wish I had better news."
When asked about the possibility of Harris replacing Biden, Li was emphatic. "Skipping over Kamala Harris would be political malpractice," she declared. "Full stop, end of story."

She emphasized the crucial role of Black American voters in the Democratic Party's success, crediting them for Biden's victory over former President Donald Trump. She described Harris as a "consummate prosecutor" who is "out there every single day effectively prosecuting the case against convicted felon Trump."
Li argued that bypassing Harris in favor of another candidate would be a "catastrophic mistake." She believes Harris is the best choice to replace Biden because of her presumed access to the Biden-Harris war chest, which holds tens of millions of dollars.

Harris has emerged as the most viable alternative to Biden, with several polls showing her matching or even exceeding Biden's performance against Trump. Her experience as a prosecutor is seen as an asset in an election where law and order will likely be a major issue.
While Biden and his staff have maintained that he will remain in the race, rumors persist that he is considering Harris as his potential replacement. The New York Times has reported that Biden is asking advisors if Harris could win, given the growing calls from Democrats for him to withdraw.

The White House has since denied the Times report, stating that Biden is "more committed than ever" to campaigning. However, the uncertainty surrounding Biden's candidacy has fueled speculation about Harris's potential role in the upcoming election.
Li's comments underscore the growing concerns within the Democratic Party about Biden's electability and the importance of maintaining the support of Black American voters. Harris, with her prosecutorial experience and strong base among Black voters, is seen as the most viable alternative to Biden should he decide to step aside.
