Williams Racing has announced a significant change to its driver lineup, with American rookie Logan Sargeant being replaced by Argentinean prospect Franco Colapinto for the remainder of the 2023 Formula 1 season.

Williams Racing has shaken up its driver roster, with Logan Sargeant being replaced by Franco Colapinto for the remaining nine races of the 2023 Formula 1 season.

Sargeant, who made his F1 debut with Williams at the start of the year, has struggled to find his footing in the highly competitive series. The 22-year-old American has failed to score a single point in the opening 13 races, with his best result being a 14th-place finish in Azerbaijan.

Williams has opted to give Colapinto a chance to prove his worth in the hope that he can provide a much-needed boost to the team's performance. The 20-year-old Argentinean has impressed in the junior categories, winning the 2022 Formula 3 Championship with MP Motorsport.

Colapinto has already had a taste of Formula 1 machinery, having completed two test sessions with Williams earlier this year. The Argentinean made a strong showing in both outings, impressing the team with his speed and adaptability.

Williams believes that Colapinto has the potential to become a successful Formula 1 driver and that he can help the team achieve its goals this season. The team is aiming to improve on its current P10 position in the Constructors' Championship and score its first points of the year.

Colapinto is eager to prove himself at the highest level of motorsport. He said: "I'm thrilled to be joining Williams Racing for the rest of the season. It's a dream come true for me to race in Formula 1, and I'm grateful to Williams for giving me this opportunity."

"I know that I have a lot to learn, but I'm eager to prove myself. I'm going to give it my all and help Williams achieve its goals for the season."

Colapinto will make his Formula 1 race debut at the Belgian Grand Prix on August 27-28. He will partner with Nicholas Latifi, who will remain with Williams for the rest of the season.

Williams Racing CEO Jost Capito said: "We're excited to welcome Franco to the team. He's a talented young driver who has shown great potential in the junior categories."

"We believe that Franco can help us achieve our goals this season. He's a hard worker and he's always willing to learn. We're looking forward to seeing what he can do in Formula 1."
