Former President Trump's Super PAC, MAGA Inc., has launched a TikTok account (@MAGA) in an effort to reach millions of voters ahead of the 2024 election. Despite concerns over the app's ties to the Chinese Communist Party and potential ban in the U.S., MAGA Inc. CEO Taylor Budowich says the platform will be used to distribute Trump's messaging and support his election campaign.
In a move that has raised eyebrows, former President Trump's Super PAC, MAGA Inc., has launched a TikTok account. Named @MAGA, the account is the first entity connected to the presumptive Republican presidential nominee to join the video-sharing platform.
MAGA Inc. CEO Taylor Budowich told Fox News Digital that TikTok will be used as a vehicle to distribute Trump's campaign messaging, rapid response, and content supporting his 2024 election efforts.
"There's millions of voters on TikTok, and @MAGA will deliver President Donald J. Trump's pro-freedom, pro-America agenda every day with the facts and stories that matter," Budowich said.
The move comes despite concerns over TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, and its ties to the Chinese Communist Party. President Biden recently signed into law a bill that would force a ban on the app in the U.S. if TikTok doesn't find a non-Chinese-controlled owner.
However, Budowich downplayed these concerns, stating, "We aren't trying to set policy, we are trying to win an election." He also criticized Google and Facebook for allegedly interfering with elections.
The PAC's first TikToks focus on the economy under President Biden and promise an economic "boom" if Trump is elected. Another video targets Robert F. Kennedy Jr., highlighting his past support for Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
MAGA Inc. is also active on Twitter, where it uses its @MAGAIncWarRoom account to post opposition research and rapid responses. Budowich said the PAC will continue to use Twitter and expand its presence on other platforms.
While the Biden White House is not on TikTok due to national security concerns, the Biden campaign has an account on the platform. TikTok and ByteDance have filed a lawsuit challenging the new law mandating that the app be sold to a company without ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
Despite the legal battle, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew said the app will not be going anywhere. ByteDance argues that the Chinese government would not permit a divestment of the recommendation engine that drives TikTok's success.
The lawsuit also claims that TikTok has spent $2 billion on data protection measures for its 170 million American users. The Biden campaign has said it will remain on TikTok despite the new law.
