NBA legend Magic Johnson has endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, praising her record and urging Black men to vote for her.
Johnson, who was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan, and attended Michigan State University, joined Harris at a rally in Flint on Friday. He told the crowd that Black men need to vote, but with a conscience.

"We gotta make sure we help Black men understand that," Johnson said. "So, that's why I'm here — to make sure I help Black men understand first, get out and vote, and then vote for the next president of the United States, Kamala Harris."
Johnson has long been a supporter of the Democratic Party, previously endorsing Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. He said that he believes Harris is the best candidate to lead the country.

"I believe that Kamala Harris is the best person to lead our country," Johnson said. "She's a strong leader, she's a compassionate person, and she's committed to fighting for the people of this country."
Harris thanked Johnson for his support and said that she is honored to have him on her team.

"I'm so grateful to have Magic Johnson on our team," Harris said. "He's a true American icon, and he's someone who has always stood up for what he believes in."
Harris is currently campaigning in North Carolina, while Trump is making his return to Butler, Pennsylvania, site of a July 13 assassination attempt on his life.
Johnson's endorsement is a significant boost for Harris, who is facing an uphill battle against Trump in the polls. However, Johnson's endorsement could help her to energize Black voters, who are a key demographic in the upcoming election.
In addition to Johnson, Harris has also received endorsements from a number of other high-profile figures, including former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former Vice President Joe Biden.
The Democratic primary is still in its early stages, but Harris is considered to be one of the frontrunners. If she wins the nomination, she will face Trump in the general election in November 2024.
