A recently conducted poll has revealed that a significant majority of Americans, including Democrats, believe that President Biden should step down from the 2024 presidential race. The AP-NORC survey suggests that the president's declining support follows a disappointing debate performance and other factors.

The latest polling data from the AP-NORC survey, conducted from July 11 to 15, prior to the attempted assassination of former President Trump, paints a concerning picture for President Biden's re-election prospects. A staggering 70% of Americans, including 65% of Democrats, believe Biden should withdraw from the race and allow his party to select a new nominee.

The survey's findings expose a growing rift within the Democratic Party, with only 35% of Democrats supporting Biden's continued campaign. Notably, younger Democrats are particularly vocal in their dissatisfaction, with 75% of those under 45 advocating for Biden's withdrawal. The number of Democrats dissatisfied with Biden has also risen from 38% to 48%.

Despite these challenges, Biden maintains a stronger perception of honesty than Trump among respondents. However, Trump is widely regarded as more capable of winning in November and handling crises effectively.

Interestingly, the survey also reveals that Black Democrats remain among Biden's strongest supporters. Half of Black Democrats express support for his continued candidacy, while only a third of White and Hispanic Democrats share the same sentiment.
