Gerald Don Miller, a 56-year-old man from Texas, has been arrested and charged with three counts of impersonating a public servant and one count of sexual assault. Miller is accused of posing as a Child Protective Services (CPS) worker to gain access to children.

According to the Lamar County Sheriff's Office, the first incident was reported on June 18. The victim's parents reported that a man claiming to be a CPS worker had gained access to their child. The child and the parents were able to provide detectives with a description of the suspect and his vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that a similar incident had occurred in Sulphur Springs, Texas, in November. The suspect and vehicle description matched the information provided by the Lamar County victims.

On June 25, Miller was identified as the suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued. A search warrant was also obtained for his home and vehicle.

During the execution of the search warrant, detectives discovered property in Miller's vehicle that corroborated the Lamar County victim's account. Evidence found in the vehicle also linked Miller to the Sulphur Springs incident.

Miller was taken into custody and transported to the Franklin County Jail. His bond has been set at $300,000.

Authorities are urging anyone who has had contact with Miller while he claimed to be with CPS to contact their local police department. Miller is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing approximately 240 pounds, with brown and white hair and a white mustache. He may have been carrying a red case with a Texas Department of Criminal Justice logo on it.

"This investigation is the perfect example of how cooperation between agencies helps solve a case," said Lamar County Sheriff Scott Cass. "With this effort, another criminal has been taken off our streets and out of our neighborhoods."

The investigation is ongoing.
