Mariah Carey, known as the "Queen of Christmas," recently shared insights into motherhood, praising her 13-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, for being well-behaved and kind-hearted, unlike her rebellious self during her teenage years.
Mariah Carey, the legendary pop singer, is not only a musical icon but also a devoted mother to her 13-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan. In a candid interview with E! News, Carey shared her admiration for her teenage children and their contrasting personalities compared to her own youthful rebelliousness.
"I love them so much," Carey expressed, beaming with pride. "They're really good kids… I don’t think that they're bad or evil in any way like I was… they're very smart, and they're funny — and… I'm the mommy."

Despite being the eldest children of Nick Cannon, who is a father to 10 other children with five other women, Monroe and Moroccan have not inherited their father's unconventional parenting style. Carey attributes their well-rounded personalities to her nurturing approach to motherhood.
"Am I mean? No," Carey said. "Am I lenient? Probably. Because I don't want to be that person that's like the bleak one in the crowd and they don't want to be around me or something."

Carey emphasized the importance of a balanced approach to parenting, avoiding both excessive strictness and overindulgence. While she wants to be approachable and loving, she also sets clear boundaries and expectations.
"They did want to come see the show the other night," Carey added, referring to her recent Las Vegas residency. "But… I didn't know if they really wanted to come or if it was somebody else saying it. You never know!"

Despite their contrasting childhood experiences, Carey has found solace and joy in the holiday season, particularly through her iconic Christmas anthem, "All I Want for Christmas." During an interview with W Magazine, she revealed how her difficult childhood led her to appreciate the holiday's cheer.
"The idea of me doing a Christmas album at all came from the record company," Carey explained. "It was very early in my career, and I thought it was a little early for me to be doing that, but I was like, ‘Well, I love Christmas.’ I had some very sad Christmases as a child, but I always try to find the bright light there."
