In Arizona's Maricopa County, a security fob theft and vote tabulator issues have sparked concerns ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

Maricopa County in Arizona has been plagued by a series of election-related incidents, including a security fob theft and technical glitches with vote tabulators.

On Thursday, 27-year-old Walter Ringfield of Phoenix was arrested for allegedly stealing a security fob and keys from a ballot tabulation center. Security footage captured Ringfield taking the items from a desk near multiple tabulators.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office arrested Ringfield on suspicion of theft and criminal damage. The investigation revealed that the stolen fob is used with special secure tablets. As a result, the staff had to reprogram every fob and tablet, causing potential delays.

Maricopa County has faced repeated tabulation equipment concerns in recent years, becoming a hotbed of election-fraud claims, particularly during the 2020 presidential election. However, county officials emphasize that the security protocols in place proved effective in safeguarding democracy.
