Victor Robles' aggressive attempt to steal home on a 3-0 count proved costly for the Seattle Mariners, who lost to the New York Yankees 10-1.

The New York Yankees rolled over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night, and one reason for the Mariners' meager one-run output came in the bottom of the first inning on what was called an "absolutely ridiculous" decision by Victor Robles.

Seattle found themselves with the bases loaded, two outs, and Justin Turner at the plate, a batter who has a career batting average of over .320 in such situations. Yankees starter Luis Gil struggled to find the strike zone, throwing three consecutive balls for a 3-0 count. The Mariners had an excellent opportunity to match or even take the lead after New York scored two runs in the top of the inning thanks to Aaron Judge's RBI double.

However, Robles exhibited excessive aggression at third base as he observed Gil picking up the rosin bag behind the mound while facing away from Robles.

Impetuously, Robles darted towards home plate, but Gil reacted swiftly by firing a throw to his catcher, Austin Wells, who tagged Robles out. The inning ended abruptly, leaving many bewildered as to why Robles attempted the daring feat.

During the YES Network broadcast of the game, Michael Kay and Jeff Nelson expressed disbelief at what they witnessed.

"Absolutely ridiculous, 3-0, and Justin Turner's glaring into the dugout as if to say, 'Really?'" Kay exclaimed.

Nelson concurred, labelling Robles' mistake as "bonehead." Robles was subsequently replaced as designated hitter by Mitch Garver in his next turn at bat.

"Vic's an aggressive player, there's no doubt, and that's part of the game," Wilson remarked. "That's a situation where you've got to know you're going to make it. He just got his hand in there, but just wasn't able to get in there safely. We're hoping he can bounce back tomorrow."

Robles patiently waited until Gil's back was fully turned before sprinting for the rosin bag, but as one Reddit user observed, "I see why Robles thought he could pull it off but not NOW, man."

The Yankees went on to crush starter Bryan Woo, who had allowed no runs in either of his previous two starts against New York. Judge collected four RBIs, while Juan Soto and the team's top prospect, Jasson Dominguez, each hit home runs in the 10-1 rout.

The Yankees solidified their lead in the AL East with the victory, while the Mariners fell three games behind a wild card berth in the American League.
