Maryland Governor Expresses Grief over Joppatowne High School Shooting
We commend the heroic efforts of the first responders who swiftly arrived on the scene and worked tirelessly to save lives. Their bravery and professionalism are a testament to their unwavering commitment to our safety.
As we grapple with this unspeakable loss, it is imperative that we come together as a community. We must offer our support, comfort, and resources to those who have been directly impacted by this tragedy.
We must also work tirelessly to prevent such tragedies from happening again. We must have honest and difficult conversations about gun violence and its root causes. We must demand common-sense gun control measures and invest in programs that address mental health, poverty, and other underlying factors that contribute to violence.
The safety of our children and our communities is paramount. We will not rest until we have made our schools and neighborhoods safe places for all.
In the meantime, we ask all Marylanders to keep the Joppatowne community in their thoughts and prayers. Let us offer our love, support, and unwavering commitment to healing and moving forward together."
