Matthew Stafford, former Detroit Lions quarterback now with the Los Angeles Rams, expresses his lack of rooting interest for any team in the NFL playoffs after his team's elimination. Despite his history with the Lions, he wants everyone to lose.
Matthew Stafford's journey in the NFL has been marked by both triumphs and setbacks. After spending 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions, he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, where he ultimately led the team to a Super Bowl victory in his first year. However, despite his success, Stafford harbors a competitive fire that burns fiercely when his team is eliminated from the playoffs.
In a recent interview on Barstool Sports' "Pardon My Take," Stafford revealed that he doesn't have any sympathy for any team once his own is out of the running. "I'm not rooting for anybody at that point," he said. "If the two-time Pro Bowler isn't in the playoffs, there is a good chance he isn't watching them. "I'll peek (at) it, but I'm not invested being like, 'Oh that'll be a good matchup next week.' I'm like, 'F this. I want to be out there.'"

Stafford's competitive drive is evident in his desire to continually improve and push himself towards greatness. He has been to the playoffs five times in his career, three times with the Lions and twice with the Rams. While he failed to advance past the wild-card round with Detroit, he led Los Angeles to a Super Bowl title in 2021.
Despite his Super Bowl victory, Stafford admits that last season's playoff defeat still stings. "I think it's almost the opposite in the fact that I know what that feels like now," he said. "I've got the losing in the first round, I've got that one locked up. I know what that one feels like. I've only gotten one taste of the Super Bowl, and I'm like, 'Man I want to do that.'"

Stafford's hunger for Super Bowl success remains unyielding. He knows what it takes to reach the pinnacle of the NFL, and he is determined to experience that feeling again. "When you get those opportunities — I've had so many years where we didn't have that opportunity at all to play in the playoffs," he said. "When you get the opportunity, you're really close. The fact that Detroit did what they did after they beat us, man, if we win that game, who knows what happens? It makes it almost even harder to be honest."
Stafford's competitive spirit is a driving force behind his success. He refuses to rest on his laurels and is always striving to improve. As he enters his fourth season with the Rams, he will undoubtedly be aiming to lead the team back to the Super Bowl and add another championship to his resume.
