After months of anticipation and uncertainty, the highly anticipated bout between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler at UFC 303 is finally set to take place on June 29th. The two fighters, who faced off as coaches on "The Ultimate Fighter" reality series, will finally enter the Octagon to settle their long-standing rivalry.

Less than two months away from their highly anticipated showdown at UFC 303, Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler are ready to put an end to the uncertainty surrounding their upcoming matchup. With their last bout nearly three years ago, McGregor and Chandler are scheduled to step into the cage late next month following the longest gaps between fights in their respective careers.

The anticipation for this fight has been building since the two fighters were announced as opposing coaches on the most recent season of "The Ultimate Fighter." However, when the season concluded, it started to seem less likely that McGregor and Chandler would ever actually face off in the cage.

Now, with the fight officially set, McGregor and Chandler are both expressing confidence in their abilities to come out on top. In a recent interview with ESPN MMA, Chandler stated that he expects to be the last opponent McGregor faces before he retires.

"I do. I think I’ll be the last person," Chandler said. "I think I dominate him in a fashion that — it’s almost as if he can keep trying to come back, but he will have lost the fan's interest so much more after I do what I’m gonna do to him on June 29."

McGregor, who has been out of action since 2021 due to injury, has not publicly responded to Chandler's comments. However, he has been actively training and preparing for his return to the Octagon.

Chandler, the former Bellator lightweight champion, is confident that he will defeat McGregor convincingly and that the Irishman will have no interest in continuing his fighting career.

"I truly believe what I’m going to do to him on June 29 is going to warrant and merit him never stepping back into the octagon," Chandler proclaimed.

Despite the extended time off, Chandler believes that the break has benefited him in some ways. He has been able to spend more time with his family, engage in business ventures outside of fighting, and raise money for charities.

With the fight just around the corner, MMA fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting this highly anticipated clash between two of the sport's biggest stars. Whether it will be McGregor's triumphant return to the Octagon or Chandler's crowning achievement as he ends McGregor's career remains to be seen.
