Princess Diana's biographer weighs in on the future for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, suggesting that the Duchess of Sussex's remorse over the rift with Kate Middleton may not be enough to mend their relationship. Royal experts believe that Meghan's focus on her business ventures and the distance between the couple and the royal family make reconciliation unlikely.

According to royal expert Hilary Fordwich, Meghan Markle is said to be remorseful over her feud with Kate Middleton. Fordwich claims that the Duchess of Sussex has been thinking about the Princess of Wales, who is battling cancer. "Meghan Markle is purportedly remorseful. … Well, one would hope," Fordwich told Fox News Digital. "It’s just being spread that she doesn’t want any bad blood. … Of course, she wants and needs some sort of reconciliation. … [But] Meghan Markle has a long way to go for Kate to ever see an upside for the royal family or the public in a reconciliation."

However, insiders have also claimed that Meghan Markle wants to make peace with Kate Middleton despite being "genuinely feeling hurt" over the feud. The women last publicly saw each other at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022. Meghan, 42, has not returned to the U.K. since.

Christopher Andersen, author of "The King," told Fox News Digital that the royal wives were never close. "From the very beginning, Kate and Meghan were hardly what I would call a love match," Andersen explained. "Even before they had their famous, tearful row over the flower girls’ dresses at Harry and Meghan’s wedding, the relationship between the two princesses was frosty. After Megxit, Kate did what she could do to bring brothers Prince Harry and Prince William back together, but that proved impossible once the Sussexes let loose on the royal family during the Oprah interview and then in Harry’s blistering memoir ‘Spare.’"

Kate Middleton has reportedly thrown her hands up and walked away, leaving it up to William and Harry to decide when – or even if – they will patch things up. Andersen claims that Meghan has shown little interest in repairing relations with her royal in-laws.

Meanwhile, the royal family's rift with Prince Harry has also deepened since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's royal exit in 2020. The couple has accused the British media of unbearable intrusions and racism, prompting their move to California.

In 2021, Meghan Markle addressed reports that she left Kate Middleton in tears leading up to her royal wedding. Meghan claimed that the reverse happened, stating that Kate apologized and brought her flowers. Megan also described Kate as "a good person" and said that people shouldn't pit them against each other.

However, some royal experts believe that Meghan Markle won't be extending an olive branch to her sister-in-law anytime soon. Kinsey Schofield, host of the "To Di For Daily" podcast, claims that the duchess has been busy with her latest business venture, American Riviera Orchard, and is focused on her life in America.

Ian Pelham Turner, another royal expert, suggests that Meghan Markle has been sending out signals that she wishes to build bridges with Prince Harry, but that William may be dominating the dialogue and Kate, as a loyal royal wife, will accept his decision.

Despite Meghan's purported remorse and Kate's possible willingness to forgive, royal experts believe that reconciliation between the Sussexes and the royal family is unlikely due to the deep wounds caused by the Oprah interview, Prince Harry's memoir, and the couple's subsequent business ventures. The situation is further complicated by King Charles and Queen Camilla's reported unwillingness to forgive the Sussexes.
