Meghan Trainor has expressed her desire to take over Katy Perry's seat on "American Idol," even going as far as emailing show executives to express her interest.

Meghan Trainor has set her sights on becoming the next judge on "American Idol," following Katy Perry's announcement that she will be leaving the show after season 22.

On Wednesday's episode of "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," Trainor confirmed her aspirations to join the popular singing competition series. When asked by a fan if she was in talks to replace Perry, Trainor replied, "I've done every interview in the world and said that that is my dream job, and I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world who don't really have the final say."

Trainor, 30, went on to explain that she has begged for the job and has yet to receive any updates. She expressed her love for the show, saying that she has been a fan since she was a child and enjoys watching the contestants' journeys.

"I love being a part of their process," Trainor said. "I just get way too attached. And it's like my favorite show. I've watched since I was a child."

Trainor's desire to join "American Idol" stems from her passion for music and her belief that she can make a positive impact on the contestants' careers. She has previously served as a judge on several talent shows, including "The Four: Battle for Stardom," "The Voice UK," and "Australian Idol."

In the past, both Luke Bryan and Ryan Seacrest have expressed their support for Trainor joining the "American Idol" cast. Bryan praised her fun and witty personality, while Seacrest noted her talent and sense of humor.

Trainor's potential addition to the show has also garnered support from Katy Perry herself. In May, Perry told E! News that Jelly Roll, a country star who appeared as a guest mentor on "American Idol," would be a great choice to replace her.

Perry added that she believes Jelly Roll would be an excellent mentor to the young artists on the show, saying, "To have any of these guys plus Jelly on the show would be amazing. I love you, Jelly!"

Despite the support from her peers, Trainor remains unsure of whether she will be offered the job. She continues to eagerly await an update from the show's executives, hoping that her dream of becoming a judge on "American Idol" will come true.

In the meantime, Trainor continues to pursue her music career. She recently released her new single, "Made You Look," which has quickly become a hit. She is also set to embark on a tour later this year, visiting cities across North America.
