Pop star Meghan Trainor has taken a proactive measure to safeguard her creative legacy, incorporating a clause into her will that prohibits the unauthorized use of her voice through artificial intelligence (AI) technology after her death.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Meghan Trainor expressed her concerns about the potential misuse of AI in the music industry. She revealed that she has implemented a clause in her will to prevent her voice from being manipulated or used in any way that she does not consent to.
Trainor explained that advancements in AI technology have raised ethical concerns about the potential for posthumous vocal exploitation. She fears that her voice could be used to create synthetic performances or recordings that do not reflect her artistic intentions or values.
"I'm like, 'Wait, they can make me say and sing things that I didn't do?' And they were like, 'Yeah.' That's spooky," Trainor said.
To ensure that her voice remains protected, Trainor has taken the necessary legal steps to ensure that her wishes are respected beyond her lifetime. The clause in her will specifies that her voice cannot be used in any form of AI-generated music or performances without explicit authorization from her estate.
This decision reflects Trainor's commitment to maintaining artistic integrity and preserving her legacy. She believes that her voice is an essential part of her identity and that it should not be used in ways that she cannot control.
In addition to her AI concerns, Trainor also discussed her marriage to "Spy Kids" star Daryl Sabara and the one thing about him that really annoys her: his bad breath.
Trainor and Sabara met at a house party in 2014 and began dating in 2016. They got married in 2018 and have since welcomed two children together.
Despite her love for Sabara, Trainor admitted that his morning breath is something she struggles to tolerate. She jokingly said that he needs to brush his teeth more often and that his bad breath is the only flaw she can find in him.
Trainor's comments highlight the importance of protecting one's voice and artistic legacy, even after death. As AI technology continues to evolve, it is crucial for artists to be aware of the potential risks and take steps to ensure that their work is used respectfully and in accordance with their wishes.
