MiHoYo, the developer behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, has filed new trademark applications for two mysterious titles: Astaweave Haven and Hoshimi Haven. Speculation is rife as to what these new games might be, with some suggesting they could be management sims or entirely new genres for the developer.

MiHoYo, the Chinese developer behind the hugely successful Genshin Impact and upcoming Honkai: Star Rail, has filed new trademark applications for two previously unknown titles: Astaweave Haven and Hoshimi Haven. These filings, which were made in Chinese, have sparked speculation among gamers as to what these new projects might entail.

According to GamerBraves, who first reported on the filings, the Chinese titles translate directly to "Astaweave Haven" and "Hoshimi Haven." While the names themselves offer little insight into the gameplay or genre, speculation is rife as to what these new games might be.

One popular theory is that Astaweave Haven could be a management simulation game. This speculation stems from the fact that MiHoYo has previously developed and published a number of popular simulation games, including Tears of Themis and Honkai: Impact 3rd. However, it is important to note that MiHoYo has also ventured into other genres, such as action RPGs with Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.

Another possibility is that these new trademarks represent entirely new genres for MiHoYo. The developer has been known to experiment with different gameplay styles, and it is possible that these new projects could be something completely different from what we have seen from MiHoYo before.

It is also important to keep in mind that developers and publishers often file trademarks early on in a game's development or planning. This is done to prevent other companies from acquiring the trademark and potentially profiting from their work. As such, it is possible that these trademarks represent only very early concept-stage plans by MiHoYo, and that the actual games may be quite different when they are eventually released.

MiHoYo has been building up a catalogue of truly astounding proportions. Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and the upcoming Zenless Zone Zero all join an already beefy pre-Genshin lineup. So would adding more to that be prudent? Maybe, but we wouldn't blame MiHoYo for wanting to corner the market on other genres. So realistically, if they were planning new games, they would want to move outside the gacha genre.

So are these just early-stage plans? Or can we look forward to new MiHoYo games soon? We'll just have to wait and see.
