"He shut down the state for almost two years. Anybody that would go against his rules, so much as opening a coffee shop, would end up in jail for long periods of time," Urban said.

Walz's administration also set up a hotline for residents to report violators of COVID-19 mandates, a move that Urban deemed "complete dictatorship." He accused Walz of criminalizing holiday gatherings, stating that people faced potential jail time if they were caught carrying turkey during Thanksgiving.

Urban's criticism extends to Walz's response to the Minneapolis Black Lives Matter riots in the wake of George Floyd's death in 2020. He believes the governor was negligent in his duty to quell the violence, which included the burning of a police station.

"He stood by. He had every resource to end the riots very quickly, and he chose not to. He let the burning, the looting, the protesting go for several days, and it was just a terrible thing for this city," Urban said.

The business owner emphasizes that crime surged in Minneapolis during and after the riots, with residents feeling unsafe and businesses struggling to operate. He argues that Walz's reluctance to provide state assistance left the city vulnerable.

Urban vehemently rejects the comparison between Walz and California Governor Gavin Newsom, calling Walz "more radical left." He highlights Walz's comment at a recent rally with Vice President Kamala Harris, where he advocated for respecting personal choices. Urban finds this ironic, given Walz's own heavy-handed policies during the pandemic.

"The idea of 'mind your own damn business' sure did not happen with him," Urban said.
