A Mississippi family has been living in fear after their harrowing carjacking experience outside their home was captured on security camera. The gunmen, who are still at large, have been identified and their images have been widely circulated, leading the family to worry about retaliation.

In the quiet residential neighborhood of Jackson, Mississippi, Heather Allen and her family have been living in a state of constant unease since they were targeted by carjackers outside their own home. The brazen attack, which was caught on their security camera, has left the family traumatized and fearful for their safety.

"We have to get out of here. It's not safe. Especially not now, with all the news and stuff because their picture, it's getting out here, and, I'm afraid they're going to retaliate," Allen told Fox & Friends First in an emotional interview.

The incident occurred as the Allen family was returning home from a shopping trip. As they pulled into their driveway, two armed men suddenly approached their car, shouting for them to get out.

"You can see me throw my hands up," Allen recalled.

One of the attackers pulled Allen's daughter out of the car and jumped inside, while the other pointed a gun at her oldest son's face.

"My son gets out… I told him to run, go into the house, and then that's when I go for the grandbabies in the back seat," she said.

Allen's quick thinking and determination to protect her family led her to grab her keys from around her neck and throw them to the carjackers in an attempt to get them out of her yard.

"They're [the carjackers were] in between my daughter, and they're going back and forth like, 'give me the keys, give me the keys.' My daughter's like, 'They're in the car,' and then that's when it dawned on me, I had my keys around my neck, so I took them off and threw them to them to get them out of my yard."

The security camera footage captured the entire ordeal, providing valuable evidence for police. According to local reports, the carjacking took place just 40 minutes after another carjacking on a nearby street.

Police are still searching for the suspects, but Allen claims to have seen one of them on video at a nearby store. Despite providing this information to authorities, she has not received any updates on the investigation.

Allen's car was eventually recovered, but only after she endured several frustrating trips between impounded car lots and the local crime lab.

"We didn't know what to do. We didn't know who to talk to. We didn't know what was going on," she said.

The incident has left the Allen family shaken and questioning their safety in their own home. They now fear the possibility of retaliation from the carjackers, who may know where they live.

"It's just a constant anxiety. I'm like, I can't even go home anymore. I don't feel safe," Allen said.

Allen's experience is a reflection of the rising crime rate in Jackson, Mississippi, which she believes is now worse than in crime-ridden Memphis, Tennessee. She blames the authorities for not doing enough to address the problem.

"The crime is out of control. It's getting worse every day. And nobody's doing anything about it," she said.

Allen and her family are now planning to relocate to a safer area, where they can feel secure again. But the trauma of the carjacking will likely stay with them for a long time to come.
