Despite a stellar start to his MLB career, Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts has opted out of staying at Milwaukee's Pfister Hotel due to persistent rumors of paranormal activity during his past visits.

Mookie Betts, the eight-time MLB All-Star and 2018 American League MVP, has made a triumphant return to the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup after spending the past two months on the injured list with a fractured left hand. However, his return to the field has not been accompanied by a return to the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee, where the team is currently playing a four-game series against the Brewers.

Betts has opted out of staying at the hotel due to his concerns that the building may be haunted. The Pfister Hotel, built in 1893, has long been rumored to be home to ghosts, and Betts is not the first professional athlete to claim to have had encounters with the paranormal while staying there.

In 2022, Betts chose to make his own accommodations at a short-term rental during the Dodgers' visit to Milwaukee. Despite having stayed at the Pfister Hotel in the past without any paranormal experiences, Betts said he had trouble sleeping because he constantly felt spooked.

"I couldn't sleep. Every noise I'd be like, 'Is that something?'" Betts said.

Betts' decision to avoid the Pfister Hotel is not unfounded. Other professional athletes have reported similar experiences during their stays. The Atlanta Braves, who visited the hotel in 2022, reportedly experienced a power outage, water pressure issues, and a lack of hot water.

Despite the hotel's haunted reputation, Betts has played well against the Brewers in the past. However, his performance during the Dodgers' last visit to Milwaukee was less than stellar, going 2-for-12 at the plate.

In addition to his haunted hotel concerns, Betts has also made a position change upon his return to the lineup. Prior to his injury, Betts spent most of his time playing shortstop. However, he returned to the outfield on Monday as the Dodgers opened their series against the Brewers.

Betts said he was comfortable with the move, stating that he had not been away from the outfield for an extended period and still had the skills necessary to excel in the position.

"It's not like I've been years away from it," Betts said. "It hasn't even been a year. I've still got it in me."

Betts and the Dodgers will continue their series against the Brewers on Tuesday night in Milwaukee. It remains to be seen whether Betts' decision to avoid the Pfister Hotel will have any impact on his performance on the field.
