MSNBC co-host Mika Brzezinski expressed skepticism on Thursday about President Biden's prospects for re-election, suggesting that he might not be the Democratic nominee after all. Her remarks come amid growing pressure from Democratic lawmakers to replace Biden with a stronger candidate.

MSNBC's "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski has cast doubt on President Biden's ability to secure the Democratic presidential nomination, acknowledging that he "may or may not be" the chosen candidate. Her comments reflect a significant shift in her stance towards Biden, who has been an avid viewer of the show.

Brzezinski's pessimism stems from reports that prominent Democratic lawmakers, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have been actively working to find a replacement for Biden. Pelosi reportedly told Biden personally that he cannot win against former President Trump.

"I trust Joe Biden's abilities. I also trust Nancy Pelosi's political acumen. Nobody knows politics more than her," Brzezinski said on Thursday.

Brzezinski's words came after Pelosi reportedly confronted Biden about his declining poll numbers, which have fallen since his disastrous debate performance against Trump. Pelosi reportedly emphasized that Biden could potentially harm the Democrats' chances of retaining control of the House in November if he continues his bid for re-election.

Brzezinski stressed the need for Democrats to find a strong candidate and focus on defeating Trump, rather than internal divisions. She suggested that Biden's candidacy may not be the best option for the party.

"Nobody knows politics more than [Pelosi]. And nobody, more than Nancy Pelosi – she does not get out there without information to back it up. She doesn't take risks, and she knows her politics," Brzezinski said. "She knows her numbers."

CNN reported that in a private call last week, Pelosi told Biden he cannot defeat Trump. However, sources declined to confirm whether she directly asked him to step down.

Politico reported that Pelosi has been actively seeking a way to remove Biden from the ticket since June 27, believing that he will lose.

Brzezinski's co-host and husband, Joe Scarborough, also acknowledged on Thursday that Biden should heed the warnings from party lawmakers about his polling numbers. He criticized Biden's inner circle for appearing to shield him from advice to step aside.

"You know, it's really incumbent on people that are around Joe Biden to step up at this point and help the president, and help the man they love, and do the right thing. This is not going to end well if it continues to drag out," Scarborough said.

Brzezinski's remarks reflect a growing sense of concern within the Democratic Party about Biden's ability to win. With the 2024 election approaching, Democrats are eager to find a candidate who can effectively challenge Trump.
