The mother of the 14-year-old suspect involved in the Apalachee High School shooting has expressed remorse and revealed that she had contacted the school with concerns on the morning of the attack.
On September 4, 2024, tragedy struck Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, when a 14-year-old student, Colt Gray, allegedly opened fire, killing two students and two teachers. In the aftermath of the horrific event, the suspect's mother, Marcee Gray, has expressed her deep sorrow and apologized to the victims' families.
In an open letter obtained by CNN, Marcee Gray conveyed her heartbreak and regret. "To the parents and families of those affected by the tragic events at Apalachee High School, I want to say that I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart," she wrote.

Just before the attack, Marcee Gray had alerted the school counselor about a concerning message she had received from her son. In an interview with ABC News, she disclosed that it read, "I'm sorry, Mom," and that similar messages were sent to his father.
The school shooting left two students, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, and two teachers, Richard Aspinwall and Cristina Irimie, deceased. Seven others sustained gunshot wounds, and two more suffered injuries.
