Former Democratic Missouri Sen. and MSNBC political analyst Claire McCaskill has publicly criticized President Biden's debate performance, claiming that he "failed" to demonstrate his fitness for another term in office.

Former Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, who currently serves as an MSNBC political analyst, has expressed her disappointment with President Biden's performance in Thursday's presidential debate. "I'm not the only one whose heart is breaking right now," McCaskill said, referring to the widespread negative reactions to Biden's performance. "There are a lot of people who watched this tonight and felt terribly for Joe Biden."

McCaskill also expressed concern about Biden's declining mental acuity, stating that "it's obvious that he's lost a step." She questioned how Biden's performance will affect his chances of reelection, noting that she has received numerous calls from Democratic lawmakers and strategists discussing rumors of a potential replacement.

"I don't know that," McCaskill said when asked if Biden will be replaced. "I think we'll know a lot more in a few weeks how this plays out, how the polling plays out."

McCaskill urged Biden's advisers to have a "heart-to-heart" with him about his ability to convey strength and leadership. She also questioned the Democratic Party's decision to not consider alternative candidates, such as Gov. Gavin Newsom or Vice President Kamala Harris.

"How come the Democratic Party doesn't have them at the top of the ticket instead of using them to shore up what have become, after tonight, some glaring weaknesses in our president?" McCaskill asked.

McCaskill's criticism of Biden's performance reflects a growing concern within the Democratic Party about the president's fitness for office. Her comments have sparked further debate about Biden's age and his ability to handle the demands of the presidency.
