"We've been holding our breath as a country for a long time waiting for the cavalry to arrive in the form of the rule of law, and it did arrive today and it's a majestic day," Litman enthused to Nicolle Wallace.

Litman heaped praise upon the jury, the judge, and the entire legal system for their roles in ensuring a fair and impartial trial, despite the "hail storms" of attacks from Trump and his supporters. He emphasized that the guilty verdict was a powerful reminder of the true power of justice.

"We are rightly saying the system worked like clockwork and the jury was diligent and attentive and the judge was firm and gentle. All those things are right, but their abilities to do that while hail storms in the form of Trump and his supporters railed on all sides of them was precisely because the judge is cloaked in a robe, which is to say the rule of law … miracle is too strong a word, but really a day for celebration," Litman exclaimed.

The MSNBC guest's jubilation was echoed by MSNBC host Chris Hayes, who lauded the trial process itself as "a monumental achievement." Hayes argued that the outcome, regardless of the specific verdict, demonstrated the resilience and effectiveness of the justice system.

"Whatever happened today, the process was an achievement," Hayes stated. "Whatever happened today in that outcome with the jury, that process worked."

Litman's analysis went a step further, asserting that the guilty verdict had fundamentally altered Trump's legal status. "Donald Trump is a different person now," Litman declared. "He's not innocent until presumed guilty. He is guilty. He will get bail, it's true, but he's in a whole different status in society in the legal system in the rule of law."

The verdict against Trump marks a historic moment in American history, as it represents the first time a U.S. president has been convicted of a crime.

Biden's 2024 re-election campaign wasted no time in responding to the guilty verdicts, issuing a statement shortly after the conviction claiming that "the threat Trump poses to our democracy has never been greater."

Trump, characteristically defiant, dismissed the verdict as "disgraceful" and accused the trial of being "rigged." Nonetheless, the guilty verdict will likely loom large over the upcoming presidential election, as the nation grapples with the legacy of Donald Trump and the future of American democracy.
