MSNBC hosts heaped praise on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg after former President Trump was convicted in his hush money case, calling him "the anointed one" and a "lesson in modesty."
MSNBC hosts expressed a chorus of admiration for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in the wake of former President Trump's conviction in his hush money trial. Bragg, who oversaw the case, was hailed for his dedication, modesty, and courage.
Lawrence O'Donnell, an MSNBC host, recalled that Bragg had been dubbed "the anointed one" by the Harvard Crimson upon graduating in 1995. O'Donnell declared, "That's the right title. That's who this guy is."
He praised Bragg's commitment to his role, describing him as "dedicated to doing this job and doing it flawlessly and so profoundly modestly." O'Donnell emphasized the significance of Bragg's example in an era marked by Trump's arrogance.
"In a country in the Trump era that desperately needs lessons in modesty, Alvin Bragg is that lesson," O'Donnell asserted.
Rachel Maddow, another MSNBC host, echoed O'Donnell's praise. She commended Bragg and the prosecutors for their bravery in taking on a case involving a former president.
"The people who were brave enough to take this through the criminal justice system against all the threat that they had to face... and against all of the odds... some of the most powerful people in the country, some of the most powerful people in the world... to do it," Maddow said.
She envisioned that the prosecutorial team would be hailed as heroes in the future: "A few generations from now... they will be the ones who will be having blockbuster holograms made about them."
O'Donnell drew a contrast between Trump and Bragg, highlighting their vastly different backgrounds. He described Trump as "maybe the most spoiled brat in the history of American spoiled brats" while praising Bragg's humble upbringing in Harlem's Strivers' Row.
Maddow also acknowledged the historical significance of the case, stating: "Yes, the crimes will be part of the history, the criminals will be part of the history... But the people who were brave enough to take this through the criminal justice system... and against all of the odds..."
The MSNBC hosts' glowing praise for Bragg and the prosecutors reflected their belief that justice had prevailed. They celebrated the end of Trump's presidency and the accountability that his conviction represented.
