Multiple people were shot and injured at an annual Dominican Festival in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Sunday night. The incident involved an exchange of gunfire between two groups, with Allentown Police officers also firing their weapons. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

Multiple people were injured and transported to local hospitals after two groups opened fire at each other in the 100 block of North Seventh Street at around 6:45 p.m., according to Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan.
Allentown Police officers also opened fire in the incident. "Right now it appears there are no fatalities and no Allentown police officers that were injured," Holihan told LehighValleyNews.com.

Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk expressed disappointment over the violence and emphasized that there was no ongoing danger to the public.
"Our neighbors have no patience for those that would make our streets unsafe. This behavior is unacceptable and we will continue to take the necessary steps to protect everyone from harm," Tuerk said.

Pennsylvania state representative Josh Siegel, who represents the area where the shooting occurred, condemned the violence and called for accountability for those responsible.
"We must never allow these instances to rob our city of its positive momentum and progress. Allentown is stronger than the few who lack respect for its laws," Siegel said.

Holihan stated that the motive for the shooting is still under investigation and that it is too early to determine a specific cause.
"I'm appalled by yet another incident of violence in my district staining our city streets with blood and depriving our residents and neighbors of peace of mind," Siegel added.
The incident has sparked concerns about community safety and the need to address gun violence in the city.
According to a statement from the Dominican Festival Committee, the festival has been canceled for the remainder of the weekend out of respect for the victims and their families.
