Deario Wilkerson, 20, had been evading capture since April 2, when he allegedly shot and killed Troy Cunningham. On Monday, August 26, US Marshals tracked Wilkerson to a home in Memphis as part of an ongoing task force investigation.

As agents searched the property, Wilkerson attempted to hide in the attic. However, his luck ran out when he fell through the ceiling directly into the arms of the pursuing agents.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Wilkerson was not injured in the fall and was taken into custody without further incident. He is now being held on charges of first-degree murder in connection with Cunningham's death.

Wilkerson's arrest marks a significant break in the Cunningham case, which has remained unsolved for months. Two other suspects, Jarius Hibbler and Tamarius Barron, were arrested in May in connection with the shooting.

According to the Shelby County District Attorney's Office, Cunningham was found dead on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head after responding to a disturbance at an apartment complex. Stray gunfire from the incident also struck a vehicle carrying two females, with one sustaining a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

The US Marshals Service expressed relief at Wilkerson's apprehension, noting that the arrest is a testament to the dedication of law enforcement in bringing criminals to justice.

"This arrest is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the US Marshals Service and our task force partners," said US Marshal Tyreece Miller. "We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those who commit violent crimes are held accountable for their actions."

Wilkerson's arrest is the latest in a series of successes for the US Marshals Service in recent months. In June, the agency apprehended Robert Telles, the former Las Vegas politician who was found guilty of murdering journalist Jeff German.

The US Marshals Service is a federal law enforcement agency responsible for fugitive apprehension, witness protection, and other high-profile missions. With a long history of success in tracking down even the most elusive criminals, the agency plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of the American public.
