The NBA's investigation into Josh Giddey's alleged relationship with a minor has come to a close, with the league finding no evidence of criminal activity. The announcement comes after a thorough investigation by the Newport Beach Police Department in California, which also found no evidence of wrongdoing.

The investigation was initiated in January after rumors surfaced on social media, alleging that Giddey, the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, was involved in a relationship with a 15-year-old girl. However, both the police and the NBA found no evidence to support these claims.

In a statement released to Fox News Digital, a spokesperson for the Newport Beach Police Department confirmed that "no charges have been filed against Josh Giddey" and that "our detectives have reviewed all of the available information regarding allegations circulating on social media and were unable to corroborate any criminal activity related to Mr. Giddey."

ESPN, which first reported the end of the NBA's investigation, stated that the league reached the same conclusion as the police. The decision to close the investigation was reportedly based on the lack of evidence to support the allegations against Giddey.

Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault had previously stated that he would make decisions regarding Giddey's playing time based on the information available to the team. Despite the allegations, Giddey continued to play a key role for the Thunder, who finished as the top seed in the Western Conference this season.

In a subsequent statement, Giddey's agent, Sam Permut, welcomed the conclusion of the investigation, stating that it "completely exonerates him." Permut also noted that Giddey has "maintained a steadfast denial of any wrongdoing" and expressed appreciation for the "careful and thorough investigation" conducted by the Newport Beach Police Department and the NBA.

Giddey's attorney, Alan Jackson, echoed Permut's sentiments, emphasizing that "the allegations against Josh were baseless and malicious." Jackson added that Giddey "is a young man of the highest character and has unwavering support from his family, friends, and the Oklahoma City Thunder organization."

With the investigations closed and no charges filed, the focus can now shift to Giddey's future on the court. The 21-year-old guard has emerged as one of the rising stars in the NBA, averaging 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game this season.
