The debate over whether NFL and NBA players could immediately play and succeed in their opposite sports has been raging for years. Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce has weighed in on the discussion, claiming that LeBron James could become the greatest red zone threat in the NFL with just one offseason of training.

Kelce's comments came in response to ESPN NFL analyst Ryan Clark, who had argued that 30 basketball professionals could not play in the NFL. Clark pointed to Draymond Green's unsuccessful attempt to play in the Michigan State spring football game in 2011 as evidence.

However, Kelce believes that James is a different case. "I love this argument and passion from Ryan, and as a football player my mind is screaming hell yea!!!" Kelce wrote on Twitter. "But, if I was an NFL GM, and it was an option, I’d sign Lebron today and within one offseason he’d be the greatest redzone threat in the NFL."

James played football in high school before turning his attention solely to basketball. He was first team all-state in Ohio and was recruited by Notre Dame. Kelce believes that James' athleticism and size would make him a dominant force in the NFL.

"He's 6'9", 250 pounds, and can run a 4.4 forty," Kelce said. "He's got the strength, speed, and agility to be a nightmare for defenses. I think he could be a mismatch nightmare in the red zone."

Of course, there are some skeptics who believe that James would not be able to make the transition to the NFL. They point to the fact that he has never played football at the professional level and that the game is much more physical than basketball.

However, Kelce believes that James' athleticism would overcome any challenges he might face. "I think he's the most athletic player in the world," Kelce said. "He's the only player I can think of who could make this transition."

Only time will tell if James could actually succeed in the NFL. However, Kelce's comments are sure to fuel the debate over whether NFL and NBA players could play in their opposite sports.

In addition to Kelce's comments, former NBA player Austin Rivers has also weighed in on the debate. Rivers believes that 30 NBA players could play in the NFL, while former NFL Pro Bowler TJ Ward believes that NFL players would have a much harder time playing in the NBA.

The debate is likely to continue for years to come. However, one thing is for sure: the athleticism of NBA and NFL players is undeniable. It is certainly possible that some players could make the transition from one sport to the other.
